Event Production Industry Covid-19 Working Group

Who we are

EVCRGI Logo (2).png

We represent 3500 (Full time) and 15,000 (Part time) skilled event Industry workers.

Never, in the history of staging live performance and events, has there been such a sudden and total stop to work, as happened on the 12 th of March 2020. Live events continue through wars, they raise money for famine, they raise the spirits of a nation in times of need, and provide a focus in times of celebration.

In response to the crisis in the live event industry, created by the Covid19 pandemic, this working group was elected, to represent the interests and concerns of the individuals and business involved in producing live events and performance.

1. Sophie Ridley (Safents Consulting – Event Safety Consultant & Event Controller) - Chairperson

2. Pearse Doherty - (Head of Production - Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture) Crew / Events Personnel Representative

3. Tony Killeen - Production Managers / Event Managers / Event Controllers / Event Safety Representative

4. Kim O Callaghan - (Project Mgr & Dep Event Controller / Founder & CEO EVNTZ App) General Representative

5. Liam Fitzgerald (Bord Gaís Energy Theatre Technical Manager) - AIST Representative

Our Aims

1. Represent

Represent those that work in live event production.

2. Support & Promote

Support and promote the concerns and interests of those who work in live production both nationally and within the wider entertainment industry particularly in relation to the Covid 19 pandemic

3. Lay the foundation

Lay the foundation for a longer standing grouping to represent those working within live events.

We are fighting for your interests, particularly in relation to Covid 19 payments & the Wage subsidy scheme. These need to continue as long as we, as an industry, are out of work, considering we are a largely seasonal industry, often working in annual cycles, many people will not be earning a living wage until summer 2021.
